The Kindle Users Forum

Posted on Monday 21 February 2011

There is this great new ( for me 😉 ) forum for the Kindle that I think everyone needs to check out. Suffice to say it’s called the Kindle Users Forum. It will give you not only access to a lot of good information about what is happening in the Kindle World, but it will also give you a way to subscribe to ANY website that offers an RSS or News feed – which is HUGE for when you are traveling! This will help all of you who may have subscribed to newsfeeds using Feedbooks.com, which has now shut down this service.

The trick is that you will need to download and install on your kindle a “book” application that is available off of the kindle users forum. This book has approximately 50 already available newsfeeds but more can be added later using their web interface.

Merry Christmas

Posted on Thursday 16 December 2010

Well it’s Gipp Forster Christmas time now…. everyone coming to my site is looking for Gipp’s recordings, and unfortunately many of my old links no longer work. So I thought I would go looking to find where we can find Gipp this year. What a pleasant surprise I had when I came across this video on You-Tube. How can anyone not resist watching this, the music, the words and the magic found in Gipp’s own garage. He is and so it is (courtesy of Dale Baglo’s YouTube Account www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6yLnkmKZmw who wrote the music)… Magical…

Here is a great article about Gipp and his Christmas garage – I really think the man is Santa in disguise! www.canada.com/victoriatimescolonist/news/story.html?id=3f4d5672-15e0-4972-8e2b-cb966d48c9fa

Oh and before I forget… Here are some of the latest links that I’ve found for you. Hopefully these will stay valid for a long, long time, but if they don’t let me know and I’ll see what I can do to update them – it seems to be something of a Christmas tradition for me now – Merry Christmas!

Dale Baglo Broadcasting where one can still order the recordings for broadcast on the radio – why radio stations aren’t snapping these up boggles my mind

www.thegiftofchristmas.com

Senior Living Magazine. Where you can find online articles by Gipp as well as order his two CD’s

www.seniorlivingmag.com/bookstore/gipp-forsters-christmas-vol-1

www.seniorlivingmag.ca/bookstore/gipp-forsters-christmas-vol-2-once-upon-a-christmas-eve

Gipp Forster’s Ramblings. Where Gipp can use his skills to pen something special for you. Unfortunately no CD’s are available here, but if you want to have Gipp write something special for you, you might want to check it out…

All the best for this and many more holiday seasons – A Very Merry Christmas!

Spending Christmas with Gipp Forster

Posted on Thursday 16 December 2010

Well, to be truthful I’ve never met this wonderful gentleman. Save for listening to him over the radio, and eventually listening to his recordings. But every year at this time I hear from a LOT of people who are looking for him and want to spend time with him the way I’ve been doing.

Why every radio station in North America doesn’t carry his recordings is beyond me, but thankfully one can still find them and purchase them. And based on the number of hits I’ve been getting, by people looking for him, there are a lot of you out there!

Heck, if I was able to sell them from my site I’d never have to worry about it’s costs ( newventures ) again!  😆  But I don’t make any money, save for the good cheer it brings me… 😉

Be that as it may, I still enjoy at this time of year, helping all the hundreds ( at a minimum ) of people looking for Gipp Forster. So, to that end here are the latest links that I have for his CDs. The capcom site no longer seems to be active/available now, but thankfully my second find is. So without further ado….

Merry Christmas!

Oh, and if you want to read the whole history of how it all began and why this happens every year at Christmas  – here are a few of my articles from years gone bye – enjoy!

My Kindle

Posted on Sunday 17 October 2010

So I’ve been spending the last little while with a new gadget I bought, about a month back. The Kindle Graphite/K3 WiFi version and I have to tell you – I’m really impressed!

Some have asked me why I didn’t get the iPad, and others have asked why I didn’t go with another e-reader ( there are still quite a few out there. ) So let me explain here….

I needed something to read all the ebooks that I have been accumulating from different sites, the majority of which were free ( there are hundreds of thousands of free books and articles out there. )  I’ve tried reading them on my computer, but it isn’t viable to sit at my desk for hours at a time reading ( although I still do that some what for other reasons. ) 😯

I’ve tried reading books and articles on my Palm, but the small screen makes it painful. Having to turn pages quite often due to the small size of the screen. I’ve tried a laptop in an easy chair, but man it gets HOT after a while with it on my lap!

A B2 Notifier For Gmail Apps

Posted on Sunday 10 October 2010

My wife has started working with another team, doing bookkeeping, accounting and  such. One of the challenges she was set up with was an email account via Gmail Apps. So while it was Gmail ( an email service available from Google ), normal Gmail mail notifiers wouldn’t work with it. Which means she had to log-in and stay logged in to see any new mail. With all the stuff she was currently juggling it was not a great solution.

I recommended that she just forward the email to her current email address, but her preference was to keep it completely separate from what she was currently doing. So that meant that she needed an on-line email notifier on her desktop. Something that would tip her off when she had new mail, but otherwise be out of the way.
