Gipp Forster

Posted on Thursday 13 December 2012

Well anyone who has been following this blog will know, every Christmas season I get lots and lots of visitors looking for the man with the magical voice.

Every couple of years I have to re-search once again how people can acquire his music as things always seem to shift and so it was again this year. But…

This may be the last year I have to publish what I know about getting his CD’s as he will be very shortly available on iTunes and Amazon – something that I have been trying to get someone to do for years!

As luck would have it, I had someone comment once again on one of my postings and in reviewing it for publishing ( I have to authorize all postings – including comments for them to become visible – due to all the spam attacks I get ), I discovered that a youtube video of Gipps Christmas Garage was broken and needed fixing. So not only was I once again in search of Gipp’s Christmas CD’s, I was also in search of a video of Gipp’s Christmas Garage.

Christmas Time Again

Posted on Thursday 13 December 2012

Well here we are again. Merry Christmas everyone  😀

This is the time of year that I like most – when 100’s of people are in search of the mythical Gipp Forster once again. He really is elusive isn’t he.

It would seem that once again he has snuck past my best intentions and made his music very hard to purchase. Why he isn’t on Amazon or iTunes just boggles my mind and every year I try to contact him, or someone else to try and make it happen and every year it seems I fail. I do apologize.

I have found several online sources where you can listen to him, where with a bit of ingenuity once could record his CD’s while listening so that one would have their own copy for ever after, but I’d rather not do that (for starters that would just be more and more links I’d have to keep updating). I’m hoping for a permanent solution first, but we’ll see…

Here is an interesting fact for you – over 30% of ALL my web traffic comes from searches for Gipp Forster, and since late September ( save for the real spammers out there ) over 95% of the traffic to my site has been because of Gipp.

So to aid people once again with what research I have done, instead of listing all my posts here – I am going to create a Category called Gipp to make my, and hopefully everyone elses Christmases just a little easier! You should be able to CLICK HERE to get the entire listing. Or click on Gipp on my side panel listing of Categories.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Been a While – again…

Posted on Tuesday 17 July 2012

What can I say

Summer doldrums?

It’s not like I haven’t been busy. I’ve certainly tackled quite a few technical issues – some major, some not. Some even worth writing about – except I haven’t.

I’ve also stumbled across all sorts of things to rant about – no surprise to my wife  🙄 – but I don’t want to just rant – I get tired of it after a while too… LOL

Wish I could put my finger on it – but I can’t – hopefully I’ll break out of it soon.

I’m essentially posting this just to put off all the spammers who are trying to figure out how to crack into what they think is a dead blog …. sorry guys it isn’t AND I see ALL your attempts too, but the site is still maintained even if I don’t post as often as I’d like to. You are like flies at a picnic – not dangerous, but an annoyance none the less…

I do find myself sliding more and more into the Apple realm… maybe that’s part of it. While yes I’ve had a few challenges it’s nothing like before… the stuff just works! As a result I’m slowly fading away from Windows and even Linux… go figure…

Then again maybe it’s just the summer doldrums….

Time will tell I guess 😯

What the F…?

Posted on Tuesday 13 March 2012

Don’t panic that F… doesn’t stand for what you think it does, read on…

So my wife ran into problems with her email a couple of days ago. She uses the latest version of Thunderbird for her email and our Internet provider is Rogers.

Rogers, for what ever reason, uses Yahoo mail services. I certainly hope Yahoo gets a cut of Rogers income, because Rogers has a LOT of customers…. Anyways, it’s the combination of all three that led more to this rant/article 😯  than anything else.

Her email has been working fine for a long, long LONG time, then all at once, it refuses to send any more emails, it recieves fine, but you can’t send anything out. I can log in and send, and I can send from other packages but Thunderbird wont send…. or to be more specific Yahoo wont let Thunderbird send anything…. all you get is this wonderfully cryptic email (with a link that doesn’t work!)

Transaction failed : Cannot send message due to possible abuse; please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/abuse_smtp.html for more information

(If you want to avoid my rant and go right to THE SOLUTION at the bottom.)

Now I KNOW BETTER, but for some reason, while I was testing the email through Rogers portal (which of course worked) there was a little box that said, Click Here for live technical support and I did…. yeah I know. And while I could argue that I had a headache, was tired, and in a hurry, there really is no good excuse… I did it. 😳

So up popped “Valentino” to walk my through my problems, thankfully, or probably because I was already online trying to chat with him, he didn’t start off by asking if my computer/monitor/router/modem was turned on. 😯

The Apple TV

Posted on Tuesday 6 March 2012

I know, but taxes can wait until I at least get this little rant off my chest.  😯

As you may, or may not know, Apple is launching some new products this week – tomorrow to be precise. And the rumour mill is running wild on what the new products will be. The fact is Apple NEVER tells until they are up on stage.

The odds are good that there may be a new iPad, a new iPhone and a new Apple TV. That is logical, based on the age of the previous products and technology advances since their release.
