Who Killed the Electric Car

Posted on Monday 8 September 2008

We sat down to watch a movie last night. Actually it was a documentary, something that I thought would cover the history of the Electric Car and end with explaining that while it isn’t yet “viable” soon, real soon there might be something coming … some day… maybe…

This movie. Who Killed the Electric Car, is a movie that EVERYONE has to see, especially our children who will inherit this mess after we are gone.

I never knew that less than 10 years ago, the electric car had actually arrived AND succeeded! All the major manufacturers had developed at least one model and were leasing them in California! Ford, GM, Toyota to name just a few.

This is an Upgrade?

Posted on Friday 5 September 2008

Ouch!

I just tried searching for several previous articles that I had written and found out just how badly the WordPress upgrade and/or Google has broken my blogs presentation!

I do apologize and will start working on “re-aligning” the blog to present properly again – sorry for the mixup/mess. I sure hope this is a recent issue and not something that has been going on for a while…

I guess I might as well try and fix the issue for Internet Explorer users too….   Ahhhh the joys….  Wish me luck – and hopefully there will be a final story on this as well <grin>.

Oh for a Smart Translator

Posted on Thursday 4 September 2008

I admit I’m not the best when it comes to speaking or understanding French but I’m getting by these days ( see my previous article on “The French Connection”. )

Suffice to say, I have extended family who have the exact opposite challenge that I have. Their English is very weak and are loathe to speak, and/or have great difficulty reading and writing English. As a matter of fact, I was helping someone like that just last weekend.

They have a new computer and I was helping them with installing, understanding and using Virus Scanning software, Photograph manipulation and other odd’s and sods. Of course most of the sites that I visited and showed to them were in English. So I decided to research what was available out there (preferably free ) which could help them with translating and understanding the great wealth of material out on the web.

Time Flies or is it Me?

Posted on Wednesday 3 September 2008

Man I would really like to know where time goes to. Last week I write my first article of the fall and “blink” a week goes by before I get a chance to write the next one. It’s not like I’ve been sitting on my hands, but wow it sure doesn’t take much to knock me off course it seems!

I guess it didn’t help that I got hit by a cold between the eyes last Wednesday, nor that we made a dash over to Quebec City (about 500 miles away from here ) and back. Or spending a day babysitting my grandsons ( who acted like they had consumed every stimulant made by man that day. ) Or maybe it was just the time I spent getting all the groceries that we had been out of for what seemed like months. Or maybe it was just that I blinked…

All the time-warping and chaos being said – I still had “some” time to play with technology a bit more….

Summer Time Blues

Posted on Tuesday 2 September 2008

Well amongst everything else I see that WordPress has had no less that 2 updates (one major ) over the summer and that Google has broken one of my ad banners (it may not generate me any revenue but it usually posts links for articles that may be relevant for some of my readers.)

I also discovered last weekend that part of my blog is “spilling over” for lack of a better word, within the later versions of Internet explorer. So I’ve got some investigative work to do – wish me luck and we’ll see how things go. Who knows there may be a story or two there…..
